1 General Provisions 1.0.1 This code is formulated with a view to making the building curtain wall technology in Shanghai comply with the sustainable development and to achieving safety and usability, advanced technology, economy and rationality and guarantee quality. 1.0.2 This code is applicable to the design, fabrication, construction, testing, acceptance and maintenance of building curtain wall engineering. 1.0.3 This code is applicable to glass and metal curtain walls, whose height is not larger than 280m, granite curtain walls, whose height is not larger than 120m, and curtain walls made of other materials, whose height is not larger than 80m. 1.0.4 Overall process quality control shall be implemented for the design, fabrication, construction and maintenance of building curtain wall engineering. 1.0.5 The service life of curtain walls for building is designed to be not less than 25 years and that of its supporting structures should not be less than 50 years. 1.0.6 The materials, design, fabrication, construction, acceptance and maintenance of curtain walls for building shall not only comply with the requirements stipulated in this code, but also those in the current relevant ones of the nation, profession and Shanghai.
