1 Scope This standard specifies the criteria for evaluating the thermal endurance of either electrical insulating materials (EIM) and electrical insulation systems (EIS). It also specifies the procedure for assigning thermal classes. This standard is applicable to the electrical insulating materials (EIM) and electrical insulation systems (EIS) where the thermal factor is the dominant ageing factor Note: A thermal class is not assigned to an EIM as related to its use in an EIS. 2 Normative References The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
