1 Scope This standard specifies methods for exposing specimens to xenon-arc light sources. General guidance is given in GB/T 16422.1. 2 Normative References The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. GB/T 15596-1995 Plastics — Determination of changes in colour and variations in properties after exposure to daylight under glass, natural weathering or artificial light (eqv ISO 4582:1980) GB/T 16422.1-1996 Plastics — Methods of exposure to laboratory light sources — Part 1: General guidance (eqv ISO 4892.1:1994) 3 Principle 3.1 A xenon arc, when fitted with suitable filters and properly maintained, produces radiation with a spectral energy distribution similar to that of terrestrial sunlight in the ultraviolet and visible regions of the spectrum. 3.2 Specimens of the samples to be tested are exposed to the light source under controlled environmental conditions. 3.3 The procedure may include measurement of the irradiance and radiant exposure at the surface of the specimen.
