1 Scope
This document defines the terms for silk garments, specifies the requirements, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage, and describes the corresponding test methods.
This document is applicable to silk garments made primarily from pure woven or interwoven silk fabrics (filament), and spun silk fabrics with a silk content of not less than 30 %.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 15557 and GB/T 26380 apply.
4 Requirements
4.1 Instructions for use
Instructions for use shall comply with GB/T 5296.4. Products for infants and children shall also comply with GB 31701. For infant products, the care method shall be "do not dry clean".
4.2 Size designation and specifications
4.2.1 Size designation shall be in accordance with GB/T 1335 (all parts).
4.2.2 Main body specifications shall be designed in accordance with GB/T 1335 (all parts).
4.3 Raw materials
Outer shell and lining materials shall comply with the relevant requirements of this document. Fillings shall be selected in accordance with relevant national standards. Linings, sewing threads and other accessories shall be compatible with the fabric. Buttons, decorative buttons, zippers and other accessories shall have smooth surfaces, be free from burrs, defects and blemishes, and shall have no accessible sharp points or sharp edges. For silk garments for infants, the appearance of accessories shall not resemble food, and multi-component buttons that may separate shall not be used, except for snap fasteners. Zippers shall mesh well and operate smoothly.
4.4 Warp and weft orientation
4.4.1 The yarn skewness in collars, back body and sleeves shall not exceed 3 %, and the front bottom hem shall not be turned up.
4.4.2 The lateral yarn skewness of trousers and skirts shall not exceed 3 %, and the longitudinal yarn skewness of trousers and skirts shall not exceed 1.5 %.
4.5 Stripe and check matching
4.5.1 For fabrics with obvious stripes or checks of 1.0 cm or wider, the requirements of Table 1 shall apply. Special designs are excluded.
4.5.2 The skewness of stripe/check patterns shall not exceed 3 %.
4.5.3 For fabrics with directional nap or yin-yang checks, all parts of the garment shall be in the same direction, except for special designs.
4.5.4 For fabrics with special patterns, the main motif shall be oriented consistently throughout the garment.
4.6 Colour difference
4.6.1 The colour difference of outer fabrics in various parts shall not be lower than Grade 4. The colour difference of linings and that caused by fusible interlining shall not be lower than Grade 3-4, except for special designs.
4.6.2 The colour difference between the jacket and trousers/skirt of a suit shall not be lower than Grade 4.
4.7 Appearance defects
The permissible severity of defects on finished products shall comply with Table 2. The division of finished product parts is shown in Figure 1. The severity of defects shall be in accordance with GSB 16-2179-2008. Each part shall have no more than one defect within the permissible range. For defects not listed in this document, refer to similar defects in Table 2 according to their morphology.
4.8 Sewing quality
4.8.1 Stitch density shall comply with Table 3, except for special designs.
4.8.2 All stitching shall be smooth, straight, neat and firm, with uniform stitch length. Upper and lower threads shall be appropriately tensioned, with no skipped stitches, broken threads or residual needle holes. Start and end stitches shall be backstitched. Seam puckering on main visible surfaces shall be assessed in accordance with GSB 16-2178-2008 and shall not be lower than Grade 4.
4.8.3 Raw edges of exposed seam allowances shall not be visible.
4.8.4 Piping and binding shall be smooth, and topstitching shall be of uniform width.
4.8.5 Skipped stitches shall not occur in collars and front plackets. For other parts, there shall be no continuous skipped stitches within 30 cm, nor more than one single skipped stitch. Chain stitches shall not skip.
4.8.6 Collars shall be smooth and not turned up. The collar stand shall be smooth and wrinkle-free. Collar points shall be of equal length and lapel widths uniform. The collar face and lining tension shall be appropriate, and collar setting shall not be skewed.
4.8.7 Shoulder seams shall be straight and smooth, and shoulders shall be of equal width.

4 Requirements
4.1 Instructions for use
