本标准规定了聚乙烯环境应力开裂的试验方法。
本标准适用于测定聚乙烯均聚物以其他1-烯烃单体含量少于50%（质量分数）和带功能团的非烯烃单体含量不多于3%（质量分数）的共聚物在规定条件下耐环境应力开裂的能力。
本标准与GB/T 1842-1999的主要差异为：
——名称变更为“塑料 聚乙烯环境应力开裂试验方法”。
——将第8章的“试样制备”与第11章的“试样数目”合并为“试样”。
——将试样状态调节的相对湿度由“50%±5%”改为“50%±10%”。
——试验条件B和C的试样厚度改为“1.84mm~1.97mm”。
——增加了试验结果的表述方法。
