1 General provisions
1.0.1 This code is formulated with a view to ensure that building design for the theater meets basic requirements of functions of use, safety, sanitation and stage technology, etc.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to construction, renovation and extension design for theater building, but not applicable to theater building with auditorium area not exceeding 200m2 or with audience capacity insufficient for 300 seats.
1.0.3 The theater building may be divided into three types according to using property and performance condition: singing and dancing, play and drama. When the theater is a multifunctional one, its technical specification shall be determined according to its main using property, other functions shall be considered properly.
1.0.4 According to audience capacity, theater building scale may be divided into:
Oversize: more than 1601 seats
Large size: 1201- 1600 seats;
Medium size: 801- 1200 seats;
Small size: 300- 800 seats
Play and drama theater should not exceed 1200 seats. Singing and dancing theater should not exceed 1800 seats.
1.0.5 Grades of theater building may be divided into four: Special Grade (hereinafter referred to as “Grade S”), Grade A, Grade B and Grade C. Technical requirements for Grade S theater is determined according to specific circumstances; Grade A, B and C theaters shall be in accordance with the following requirements:
1 Maintenance-free life for major structure: Grade A with more than 100 years, Grade B with 51-100 years, Grade C with 25-50 years;
2 Fire resistance rating: theaters Grade A , B and C shall all not be less than second level;
3 indoor environment standard and technological equipment requirement shall comply with corresponding specifications in relevant chapters of this code.
1.0.6 Theater design shall be with stage technological design: building design and stage technological design shall be cooperate tightly and propose design parameters mutually.
1.0.7 Not only the requirements stipulated in this code, but also those in the current relevant compulsory ones of the nation shall be complied with by the theater building design.
