GB 15603:2022 General rules for the hazardous chemicals warehouse storage English
This document is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.
This standard replaces GB 15603-1995 Rule for storage of chemical dangers. In addition to structural adjustment and editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB 15603-1995:
——the application scope of the standard is modified, (see Clause 1 hereof; Clause 1 of Edition 1995);
——the Terms and definitions are modified (see Clause 3 hereof; Clause 3 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for storage facilities are modified (see 4.1 and 5.2 hereof; Clause 5 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for safety facilities are modified (see 4.1 hereof; Clause 9 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for hazardous chemical storage information management system are added (see 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4 hereof);
——the requirements related to “piled up in the open air” are deleted (see 4.3 and 6.2 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for "average storage capacity per unit area" and "maximum storage capacity of a single storage area” are deleted (see 6.2 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for the retention period of data documents are added (see 4.3, 7.7, 8.5 and 9.5 hereof);
——the requirements for safety protection distance are added (see 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8 hereof; 6.2 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for storage of hypertoxic chemicals, controlled chemicals, precursor chemicals and explosive hazardous chemicals are added (see 5.10 hereof);
——the requirements for loading/unloading and handling are added (see 6.1 hereof);
——the requirements for stacking are added (see 6.2 hereof).
——the requirements for stacking spacing are modified (see 6.2.5 hereof; 6.2 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for entry and delivery are modified (see Clauses 7 and 9 hereof; Clause 8 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for in-warehouse management are modified (see Clause 8 hereof; Clause 7 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for waste disposal are deleted (see Clause 10 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for personal protection are modified (see Clause 10 hereof; 4.4 and 8.5 of Edition 1995);
——the requirements for safety management are added (see Clause 11 hereof);
——the requirements for personnel training are modified (see Clause 12 hereof; and Clause 11 of Edition 1995);
——Annex A "Storage and allocation table for hazardous chemicals” is modified (see Annex A hereto, Annex A to Edition 1995);
——“Safe storage of common hazardous chemicals” and “Chinese phonetic alphabet index for names of hazardous chemicals” are deleted (see Annexes B and C to Edition 1995).

1 Scope
This document specifies the basic requirements, storage requirements, loading/unloading, handling and stacking, warehousing, in-warehouse management, ex-warehousing, personal protection, safety management, personnel and training of hazardous chemicals warehouse storage.
This document is applicable to the storage of hazardous chemicals and the warehouse storage management of enterprises handling hazardous chemicals business.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
hazardous chemicals warehouse
special warehouse and its ancillary facilities for storing hazardous chemicals

incompatible materials
articles that are prone to chemically react with each other or need to be extinguished by different methods
3.3
segregated storage
in the same warehouse or the same area, different items are separated by a certain distance. Non-incompatible materials are stored by using channels to separate space
3.4
cut-off storage
storage method in which different incompatible materials are separated by partitions or walls in the same building or in the same area
3.5
detached storage
method that store hazardous chemicals in different buildings or different rooms of the same building
