1 Scope
This part of FZ/T 01057 specifies a test method for the identification of textile fibers by birefringence.
This part is applicable to the identification of textile fibers.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition (including any amendments) applies.
GB/T 6529 Textiles—Standard atmospheres for conditioning and testing
FZ/T 01057.1 Test method for identification of textile fibers—Part 1: General introduction
3 Principle
The fiber has birefringence. The refractive index in which the direction of planar polarization vibration is parallel to the long axis of the fiber and the refractive index in which the direction of planar polarization vibration is perpendicular to the long axis of the fiber can be measured respectively by using a polarization microscope. The birefringence can be obtained by subtracting them. Different types of fibers can be identified according to their specific birefringence.
