1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification and designation, catalogue principles, names and catalogue of natural stones.
This standard applies to granite, marble, limestone, slate, sandstone and other building decorative stones for commercial purposes.

For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections), or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this standard. 3 Classification and Designation
3.1 Classification
Base on commercial purposes, natural stone materials are mainly classified into:
a) granite;
b) marble;
c) limestone;
d) sandstone;
e) slate.
3.2 Designation
3.2.1 The Chinese names shall be determined according to the distinguishable features such as the name of origin, pattern tone, stone type, etc.
3.2.2 For English names, the customary usage or foreign trade names shall be adopted.

3 Classification and Designation
3.1 Classification
