1 Scope
This standard specifies the measurement methods for cords and drawstrings on clothing for baby, infant and children up to the age of 14 years.
This standard is applicable to cords and drawstrings on clothing for baby, infant and children up to the age of 14.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 15557, GB/T 22704 and GB/T 22705 apply.
4 Measurement methods
4.1 General provisions
The length, width, perimeter and other data involved in this standard are all in millimeters (mm).
4.2 Cords
4.2.1 The cords shall be measured under its natural tiling. See Figure 1 for the measurement method of cord with free end.
Key:
1—— straight cord with a free end;
2—— clothing;
3—— cord length.
Figure 1
4.2.2 See Figure 2 for the measurement method of cord without free end.
Key:
1—— cord without free end;
2—— clothing;
3—— 1/2 cord length;
4—— both ends are fixed inside the clothing.
Figure 2
4.3 Drawstrings
4.3.1 See Figure 3 for the measurement method of the drawstring when the clothing is at relaxed natural state, and the specific steps are as follows:
a) pull the drawstring to be straight in the channel, without adjusting the size of the clothing;
b) lay the clothing flat on the table, with clothing parts, for example waistband, in its natural position (neither extended nor contracted);
c) straighten without stretching the drawstring and measure the length from the channel opening to the end of the free end.
Key:
1—— free end length.
Figure 3
4.3.2 See Figure 4 for the measurement method of the drawstring when the clothing is opened to its largest and laid flat. For elastic clothing, this test should be completed by two operators with one operator keeping the clothing at its largest width and the other measuring the length of the drawstring. The specific steps are as follows:
a) pull the drawstring to be straight in the channel when the clothing is at relaxed natural state;
b) stretch the clothing or a certain part of the clothing to remove the influence of aggregation or elasticity. There shall be no deformation beyond the natural state of the fabric and the clothing structure or stitches shall not be damaged;
c) keep the clothing stretched, lay it flat on the table, straighten it without stretching the drawstring, and measure the length from the channel opening to the free end.
