1 Scope
This standard specifies the vocabulary of controls, indicators and tell-tales for road vehicles.
This standard is applicable to various road vehicles with more than four wheels (including four).
2 Controls
2.1 Control
A member which is used by a driver to change the working condition or function of some device of a vehicle.
2.2 Steering control
A control which is used for controlling the vehicle travel direction.
2.3 Gear level/transmission control
A control which is used for selecting transmission advance or reverse gear.
2.4 Accelerator pedal
A foot control which is used for changing engine output power or rotation speed.
2.5 Manual accelerator control
A hand control which is used for changing engine output power or rotation speed.
2.6 Clutch pedal
A foot control which is used for controlling clutch engagement or separation.
2.7 Service brake control
A foot control of brake system used when controlling traveling vehicle deceleration or stop.
2.8 Emergency (secondary) brake control
A control of device for controlling vehicle emergency deceleration or stop.
2.9 Parking brake control
A control of device maintaining the vehicle in stationary state after stop.
2.10 Engine cold start control
A control (hand control in general) of auxiliary device which facilitates cold start of engine.
2.11 Windscreen wiper control
A control which is used for controlling the operating condition of windscreen wiper.
2.12 Rear window wiper control
A control which is used for controlling the operating condition of rear window wiper.
2.13 Side window wiper control
A control which is used for controlling the operating condition of side window wiper.
2.14 Windscreen washer control
A control which is used for controlling the operating condition of windscreen washer.
2.15 Rear window washer control
A control which is used for controlling the operating condition of rear window washer.
2.16 Door latch control
A hand control which is used for controlling car door lock make and break.
2.17 Door lock control
A hand control which is used for preventing door latch control actuation.
2.18 Window lift control
A hand control which is used for lifting car door glass.
2.19 Sliding roof control
A hand control which is used for opening and closing movable top cover of vehicle body.
2.20 Heater control
A hand control which is used for controlling the operating condition of a heater.
2.21 Air conditioning controls
A hand control which is used for controlling the operating condition of air conditioning plant.
2.22 Radio receiver controls
Knob (button) of audio switch, volume, tuning, band selection, etc.
2.23 Automatic antenna control
A hand control of device which makes the mast type antenna of receiver automatically extended or shortened.
2.24 Starting control
A hand control making or breaking start circuit.
2.25 Diesel engine cut-off control
A hand control of device which makes the running diesel engine stop.
2.26 Starter control
A hand or foot control of engine starting gear.
2.27 Master lighting control
Hand controls of all the headlights, parking lights, side marker lights, license lights and marker lights.
2.28 Headlights beam switching control
A control which is used for switching headlight high beam or passing beam.
2.29 Direction indicator control
A control which turns to indicator signal.
2.30 Hazard warning signal control
A control of device which sends alarm when temporary risk will be caused to other vehicles due to emergency of vehicle itself.
2.31 Headlight beam aiming control
A control of compensation vehicle which makes vertical beam focusing for headlight beam due to the influence of beam inclination at different loads.
2.32 Headlight wiper control
A control which is used for controlling the operation of headlight wiper.
2.33 Headlight cleaner control
A control which is used for controlling the operation of headlight cleaner.
2.34 Interior light control
A switch of ceiling light which is used for controlling the lighting of passenger compartment.
2.35 Battery isolating switch control
A hand control which is used for breaking battery and electrical line.
2.36 Audible warning (horn) control
A control which sends audible warning (sound horn) to pedestrian and other vehicles (excluding the vehicles with special priority, e.g. audio warning of fire vehicle).
2.37 Optical warning control
A control for a driver to control headlight so as to send light warning.
2.38 Steering wheels adjustment control
A control of device of adjusting steering control relative to driver position.
2.39 Seat adjustment control
A hand control of mechanism for adjusting seat making linear displacement or angular displacement relative to vehicle body.
2.40 Power take-off control
A hand control which is used for controlling vehicle-mounted power take-off.
2.41 Tilt control
A hand control of device which makes goods carriage incline for the purpose of unloading.
2.42 Retarder control
A control of device which makes vehicle retard without service brake and emergency brake when vehicle drives down.
2.43 Additional wheel drive control
A control of device which transmits engine power to additional driving wheel.
2.44 Differential lock control
A control for controlling differential locking device.
2.45 Radiator grill control
A hand control for opening the front water tank hood locking mechanism.
2.46 Front hood (bonnet) control
A hand control for opening engine hood lock.
2.47 Rear hood (boot) control
A hand control for opening the rear hood locking mechanism.
2.48 Radiator shutter control
A control which is used for controlling the shutter opening.
2.49 Range shift control
A control which is used for controlling high or low gear of transfer case.
2.50 Outside rear-view mirror adjustment control
A control which is used for controlling outside rear-view mirror adjusting mechanism.
2.51 Outside rear-view mirror electric heater control
A control which is used for controlling the operation of outside rear-view mirror electric heater.
