Foreword
This document is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.
This document replaces GB/T 5313-2010 Steel plates with through-thickness characteristics. In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 5313-2010:
a) The term "through-thickness properties" and its and definition have been added (see Clause 3 hereof);
b) The requirements for percentage reduction of area have been changed (see Notes 1 and 2 in Table 2 hereof; Table 2 of Edition 2010);
c) The specimen preparation of steel plate has been changed (see 6.2 hereof; 5.2 of Edition 2010);
d) The requirements for the steel plate specimen with extension have been changed (see 6.3 hereof; 5.3 of Edition 2010);
e) The requirements for the steel plate specimen without extension have been changed (see 6.4 hereof; 5.3 of Edition 2010);
f) The preparation and type diagrams of specimen have been changed (see Figure 1 in 6.3 and Figures 2 and 3 in 6.4 hereof; Figures B.1 to B.3 of Edition 2010);
g) The inspection rules have been changed (see 8.1 hereof; Clause 7 of Edition 2010);
h) The re-inspection rules have been changed (see 8.3.1 hereof; 7.3.1 of Edition 2010);
i) The supplementary requirements for steel plates, preparation and types of specimens have been deleted (see Annexes A and B to Edition 2010).
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. The issuing body of this document shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.

Steel plate with through-thickness properties
1 Scope
This document specifies the designation expression methods, technical requirements, rough specimen and preparation of specimen, test methods and inspection rules of steel plates with through-thickness properties.
This document is applicable to the killed steel plates with a thickness of 15mm~400mm.
2 Normative references
The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
GB/T 228.1 Metallic materials - Tensile testing - Part 1: Method of test at room temperature
GB/T 2970 Method for ultrasonic testing of thicker steel plates
GB/T 17505 Steel and steel products - General technical delivery requirements
3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
through-thickness properties
deformation properties of a steel plate perpendicular to its surface, reflecting the ability of the steel plate to resist laminar tearing
Note: The through-thickness properties are usually evaluated by the percentage reduction of area obtained in the tensile test in the thickness direction.
4 Designation expression methods
The designation of steel plate with through-thickness properties consists of the original designation of the product and the grade (Z15, Z25 or Z35) of through-thickness properties.
Example: Q355GJDZ25
Q355GJD——the original designation of the product, which is high-performance building structure steel with minimum yield strength of 355MPa and quality grade of D;
Z25——the grade of through-thickness properties, with the minimum average of the percentage reduction of area of three specimens of 25%.
