1 Scope
This standard specifies the measuring condition, measuring method and value rules relating to the dimensions and masses parameter for motorcycles and mopeds.
This standard is applicable to motorcycles and mopeds.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 5359.3-1996, GB/T 5359.5-1996, GB/T 5359.6-1996 and GB/T 5359.7-1996 apply.
4 General Measuring Condition
4.1 The vehicle must be clean (without oil stain or soil), equipment shall be complete and tyre pressure shall meet those specified in product technical documents.
4.2 The supporting plane for measuring dimensions shall be horizontal measuring platform or terrazzo floor.
4.3 The vehicle is placed on supporting plane in plumb state, wheels are in the position corresponding to run in a straight line; the doors and windows of right three-wheeled vehicles shall be closed and the windscreen of sidecar for the vehicle with sidecar shall be kept at working position.
4.4 Measuring instruments and devices:
a) Steel tape: with the resolution of 1mm;
b) Angle gauge: with the resolution of 5';
c) Height gauge: with the resolution of 0.5mm;
d) Heavy hammer or square ruler;
e) Three-dimensional coordinate measuring device;
f) Platform balance or electronic balance or vehicle load gauge, with the resolution of 0.2kg;
g) Cushion block;
h) Adjustable level gauge;
i) Suspension locking tool.
5 Measuring Method of Dimension Parameter
5.1 Measuring condition
5.1.1 The vehicle is in a three-dimensional orthogonal system for the purpose of determining its measuring basis plane and longitudinal median plane.
5.1.2 During measurement, the vehicle is kept at complete vehicle dry mass state.
5.1.3 The site and road for measuring turning circle diameter, turning clearance circle diameters and wheel rolling radius shall be clean, flat and dry concrete or asphalt floor.
5.2 Measuring items and requirements
5.2.1 Length dimensions are detailed in Table 1.

L6 Distance between ground clearance point and rear wheel axis Measure the distance between ground clearance point and rear wheel axis. If there is more than one minimum ground clearance point, the point closing to the central position of two wheels shall be taken for making measurement. See Figures 1~3
L7 Internal length of body Measure the maximum dimension in length direction of the internal of body (excluding internal protrusion). See Figure 3
L8 Maximum usable length of chassis behind cab Measure the distance between two vertical planes perpendicular to the longitudinal median plane of the vehicle, i.e. the foremost of the installed cargo box and the rearmost of the chassis. See Figure 3
a Optional components - the components c (different from the basic type motorcycles provided by the manufacturer) assembled for the matching or selecting by customers.
b Fixed components - the accessories c (in basic type motorcycles provided by the manufacturer) configured according to vehicle design criteria.
