5 Sampling
5.1 Batch definition
A batch is composed of products obtained in a single kettle or uniformly mixed products from several kettles under the same polymerization conditions.
5.2 Sampling
5.2.1 For products packed in kraft paper bags lined with plastic film, polypropylene woven bags, or kraft paper and polypropylene woven fabric composite bags, the quantity of sampling units is determined in accordance with GB/T 6678. The appropriate sampling probe specified in GB/T 6679 should be used, and, for sampling, should be inserted to 3/4 of the vertical depth from the center of the packaging bag. The end-of-manufacturing inspection and type inspection by the manufacturer may be performed at appropriate intervals on the packaging line, and on representative samples which are taken by means of automatic sampler (or manually). In case of any discrepancy in product quality, sampling from the packaging bag shall be based on the quantity of sampling units specified in GB/T 6678. The sampling quantity shall be not less than 2 kg.
5.2.2 Mix the collected samples uniformly, put them in a clean, dry container (or plastic bag) and seal tightly (the samples used for the determination of residual vinyl chloride monomers shall be stored, as compacted and filled, in a tightly sealed sample bottle), and indicate: the name of the manufacturer, product name, designation, batch number or production date, sampling volume, sampling date, etc.
