This standard specifies the basic requirements for radiographic and ultrasonic inspection of welding seams on ship steel structures.
This standard is applicable to the inspection of full penetration welds of ship hull, frame, ship pressure vessels and pipe systems.

4 Inspection quantity
4.1 Marine cargo ships
4.1.1 The number of radiographs (number of inspection sections), N, of the strength deck and shell plate within the midship of 0.6L shall be calculated from Formula (1). The inspection quantity of butt welds at other parts shall be agreed between the manufacturer and the ship surveyor, and is generally not greater than 0.1 N.
