1 Scope of Application
The Rules is applicable to glass used for safety-related automobiles (including vehicle in the field of engineering machinery and agricultural and forestry machinery), building and railway vehicle, including laminated glass, zone-tempered glass, hollow glass, tempered glass and plastic-glass composite in automobiles; laminated glass, tempered glass, (safety) insulating glass and laminated solar PV glass in buildings; tempered glass for packaging solar energy photovoltaic components; laminated glass, tempered glass and insulating glass in railway vehicle.
Products like chemically tempered glass and tempered glass separately used for furniture and household appliances, are not covered by the Rules.
The adjustment of application scope caused by changes, e.g. laws and regulations, or relevant products standards, technology, and industrial policy, shall be subject to CNCA announcement.
2 Certification Standards
(1) Safety-related glass in automobiles
Mandatory provisions in GB 9656 Safety Glazing Materials for Road Vehicles.
(2) Safety-related glass in buildings
Mandatory provision in GB 15763.2 Safety Glazing Materials in Building - Part 2: Tempered Glass, GB 15763.3 Safety Glazing Materials in Building - Part 3: Laminated Glass and GB 29551 Laminated Solar PV Glazing Materials in Building; 6.3, 6.4 and 6.5 in GB/T 11944-2012 Insulating Glass Unit.
(3) Safety-related glass in railway vehicle
Mandatory provisions in GB 14681.2 Electrically Heated Glazing Materials for Locomotives and Ships - Part 2: Electrically Heated Glazing Materials for Locomotives, chapter 5 and chapters related to physical and mechanical property in GB 18045-2000 Safety Glass for Railway Rolling Stock, in which the acceleration durability of insulating glass unit in railway vehicle is inspected according to Category I test level as specified in the standard.
The standards above shall be the latest edition issued by the standardization administration department of the People's Republic of China in principle. Where other editions are needed, the standards in question shall be implemented in accordance with the announcement required in applicable relevant standards issued by CNCA.
