Felting needles
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification and parameter, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of felting needles (hereinafter referred to as "needles").
This standard is applicable to needles for nonwoven needle looms, and other styles of needles used on needle looms may also be referred to.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) to, or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this standard. However, parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition applies.
GB/T 191 Packaging — Pictorial marking for handling of goods
GB/T 2828.1 Sampling procedures for inspection by attributes — Part 1: Sampling schemes indexed by acceptance quality limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
felting needles
important device of the needle loom, which uses its barbs to repeatedly puncture and entangle the fibers in the fiber web to entangle and reinforce them to achieve or form the surface functional transformation
3.2
nominal length
L1
distance from the point to the inside of the crank
3.3
working part
L2
working part of the needles
3.3.1
edge
three edges naturally formed by the triangular section of the working part
3.4
barb
depressed part whose working part is symmetrical on the edge and can drive fiber
3.5
barb angle
3.5.1
undercut angle
α
angle between the top surface of the barb and the perpendicular line of the edge
3.5.2
opening angle
α1
opening angle opposite to the undercut angle
3.6
kick-up
part of the barb above the edge
3.7
barb depth
vertical distance of the barb below the edge
3.8
barb distance
3.8.1
barb distances on same edge
L3
distance between two adjacent barbs on same edge
3.8.2
barb distance on adjacent edge
