This standard is applicable to canned complementary foods for follow-up infants and young children aged 6 to 36 months.

3 Product form classification
3.1 Juice canned supplementary foods for infants and young children
It refers to canned supplementary food for infants and young children in liquid state.
3.2 Puree (paste) canned supplementary food for infants and children
It refers to a semi-solid or solid canned supplementary food for infants and young children that can be swallowed smoothly without chewing before swallowing.
3.3 Granules and flakes (chunks) canned supplementary foods for infants and young children
It refers to infant and young children's canned complementary food with granule and flake (chunk) sizes ensuring choking-free swallowing and moderate viscosity, requiring sub-5mm size specifications for products targeting 6- to 12-month-old older infants.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Raw material requirements
The raw materials used in the products shall meet the related safety standard and/or requirements, guarantee the safety of infants, and meet their nutritional need. The substances with the hazards on infant nutrition and health must not be applied.
The production water in direct contact with the product shall meet the requirements of GB 5749. Raw materials such as livestock meat, poultry meat, fish meat, shrimp meat and animal liver shall be removed from bones, scales, thorns and fascia that are not suitable for infants and young children; and crude fiber shall be removed if necessary for raw materials of plant origin.
