本标准规定了临界事故报警设备的设计要求、检验规则、技术特性（包括辐射特性、电特性、机械特性、环境特性）、试验方法和技术文件。本标准适用于探测临界事故产生的电离辐射并能报警的设备。本标准不适用于指示仪或记录仪，也不适用于核反应堆控制系统和安全保护系统用的设备及装置。这些仪表和设备的特性必须符合其相应的通用技术条件。本标准主要供设备设计及制造用，因此，不涉及该设备的布置要求。
