1 Scope
This standard specifies the relevant requirements for correctly selecting, installing and using residual current operated protective devices (hereinafter referred as residual current protective device, RCD for short) and its operation and management.
This standard is applicable to power supply and consumption system of power supply neutral-point direct grounding, with AC 50 Hz or 60 Hz operating voltage and rated voltage less than or equal to 230/400 (220/ 380)V.
This standard is not applicable to protect phase-phase or phase-N line electric shock accident, electrical equipment damage or electric fire accident.

The following terms and definitions are applicable to this standard.

Direct contact
The contact of human body and livestock with live conductor
3.2
Indirect contact
The contact of human body and livestock with exposed accessible conductor of live electrical equipment converted under fault conditions.
3.3
Residual current
(IΔ)
The vector sum (expressed with effective value) of instantaneous value for the major loop current flowing through RCD.
3.4
Residual operating current
The residual current value of operating RCD under specified conditions.
