GB 20400-2026 Safety technical specification for leather and fur products
1 Scope
This document defines the terms and definitions for the safety of leather and fur products, provides product classification, specifies the classification that is convenient for technical requirements, the limit requirements for decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes, formaldehyde, hexavalent chromium, short-chain chlorinated paraffins, chlorinated phenols, phthalate plasticizers, total heavy metals, and dimethyl fumarate in the products, as well as the judgment and marking of the products, and describes the corresponding test methods.
This document is applicable to the accessible leather and fur parts in leather and fur products and related articles for daily life, as well as to the recycled leather parts in recycled leather products and their articles.
This document is not applicable to leathers, furs, recycled leather products and their articles for special industry.
Annex A provides a list of products and articles regulated by this document.

leather and fur products for infants aged 36 months or below to wear or use

leather and fur products with direct contact to skin
leather and fur products, when worn or used, have a large area in direct contact with human skin
3.3
leather and fur products without direct contact to skin
leather and fur products, when worn or used, do not come into direct contact with human skin, or have only a small area in direct contact with human skin
3.4
accessible
case where an articulated accessibility probe is extended to the position or component of a leather and fur product under test and a part before the shaft shoulder can become contact with the position or part of the leather and fur product under test

recycled leather
sheet-like or board-like materials resembling leather made through processes such as compression, adhesive bonding, lamination, flocking, or piercing with small pieces, granules, powders, or fibers as the primary raw materials, which are made by physically or chemically breaking down tanned leather
