1 Scope
This document defines the terms and definitions related to umbrella products, specifies safety requirements and markings, and describes the corresponding test methods.
This document is applicable to the production, inspection and sales of umbrella products.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
umbrella
a tool composed of components such as the umbrella rod, ribs and cover, and used for rain and sun protection
3.2
children’s umbrella
umbrella designed or intended for use by children aged over 3 years and under 14 years (including 14 years), or marked as being intended for children
Note: A straight-frame umbrella with a cover length of 43cm or less (including 43cm) is generally regarded as a children's umbrella unless otherwise specified.
3.3
tip
component at the end of umbrella rib that is used to fix umbrella rib to umbrella cover
3.4
removable component
parts or components of children’s umbrella that can be disassembled without tools
4 Product classification
4.1 By opening and closing form, umbrellas may be classified into manually opening and closing umbrella, manually opening and automatically closing umbrella, automatically opening and manually closing umbrella, and automatically opening and closing umbrella.
4.2 By rib structure, umbrellas may be classified into straight umbrella and extension umbrella.
4.3 By use mode, umbrellas may be classified into
— handheld umbrella: ordinary umbrella, plastic umbrella, oilcloth umbrella, paper umbrella, art umbrella, etc.
— fixed umbrella: beach umbrella and garden umbrella, etc.
5 Requirements
5.1 Edges and points
The parts that can be touched during use shall not have sharp edges or sharp points.
5.2 Umbrella cap
5.2.1 The length of umbrella cap shall not be larger than 95 mm. For children's umbrellas, the length of umbrella cap shall not be larger than 50mm.
Note: For products with an umbrella cap top diameter of no less than 20mm, the length of umbrella cap is not evaluated.
5.2.2 Umbrella cap shall be spherical, circular or circular arc, and its top diameter shall not be less than 7.4mm. For children's umbrellas, the top diameter shall not be less than 15mm.
5.3 Tip
5.3.1 The end surface of tip shall be spherical or circular arc, and the diameter of tip shall not be less than 3mm. For children's umbrellas, the diameter of tip shall not be less than 5mm.
5.3.2 The connection between the tip of umbrella and the umbrella ribs shall meet one of the following requirements:
— The depth of the rib extending into the tip shall not be less than 10mm; for children's umbrellas, the depth shall not be less than 15mm.
— The connection strength between the tip of umbrella and the umbrella ribs shall not be less than 30N; for children's umbrellas, the connection strength shall not be less than 40N.
5.3.3 Connection strength between umbrella tip and cover shall not be less than 30N.
5.4 Handle
5.4.1 The handle diameter of children's umbrellas shall not be less than 15mm, and the end surface shall be spherical or circular arc.
5.4.2 For products with a "U" or "C" shaped handle of the children's umbrella, the inner spacing of the handle shall not be less than 35mm, and the inner spacing at the opening shall not be greater than 60mm.
5.5 Opening and closing
5.5.1 During the test process specified in 6.5.1, automatically opening and manually closing umbrella, and automatically opening and closing umbrella shall not automatically opening.
5.5.2 For children's umbrellas, there shall be free from opening phenomena after the test specified in 6.5.2.
