3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
child care articles
products designed or intended for children aged 48 months and below, used or obviously used to assist them in sitting, bathing, general care, sleeping, carrying and infant protection
Note: Child care articles include but are not limited to: wheeled child conveyance, baby walking frames, soothers for babies and young children, playpens and similar cribs, cradles, safety barriers, etc.
3.2
normal use
use of products according to the instructions for use or in a traditional, customary and obvious way
3.3
fragile material
hard materials that can easily break into multiple irregular shapes under the action of (minor) external forces, such as tension, torsion, crushing or drop, and whose edges can scratch human skin
3.4
elastometric material
flexible cross-linked macromolecular material that undergoes significant deformation under force at room temperature and can quickly return to a state and dimension close to its original one after release of the force
4 Safety requirements
4.1 General requirements
The specific safety requirements for particular products shall be stipulated in corresponding product standards and shall not be inferior to the requirements of this document. If no specific product standards are stipulated for child care articles, the requirements of this document shall be met.
Child care articles shall meet the requirements of Clause 4 after testing in accordance with Clause 5 and normal use.
4.2 Materials
4.2.1 Material quality
All materials used in child care articles shall be clean and free from contamination. The material shall be inspected through visual examination with normal corrected vision rather than magnification. If recycled materials are used, they shall be refined to ensure that the content of toxic and harmful substances meets the requirement of 4.5.
Wooden materials or other plant raw materials shall be free from decay and worm damage.
The surface of the metal material that are prone to corrosion shall be subjected to anti-corrosion treatment.
4.2.2 Odor
The materials of child care articles shall be free from musty odors, gasoline odors, kerosene odors, diesel odors, fishy odors, unwashed animal fiber muttony odors, urine odors and other odors caused by contamination and deterioration.
