1 Scope
This standard is applicable to adhesives for food contact materials and articles.
2 Terms and definitions
2.1 Adhesives for food contact materials and articles
The materials, of food-contact materials and articles, that are intended to come into direct or indirect contact with foods through physical or chemical cementation.
3 Product classification
According to direct or indirect contact with foods, adhesives for food contact materials and articles can be classified into the following two categories:
——Adhesive that directly contact foods: the adhesives used in food contact materials and articles, and are expected to have direct contact with foods;
——Adhesive that indirectly contact foods: the adhesives used in food contact materials and articles, but do not have direct contact with foods.
4 Basic requirements
4.1 The adhesives for food contact materials and articles shall comply with the requirements set out in GB 4806.1.
4.2 Manufacturers producing adhesives for food contact materials and articles shall control the safety risks of adhesive products through formula design, raw material selection, production process control, and product information transmission.
4.3 Enterprises using adhesives for food contact materials and articles shall control the safety risks from adhesives through packaging design for seams and edges, adding effective blocked layers, controlling the curing process, and transmitting product information; the use and residual amount of adhesive shall be minimized as much as possible while achieving the intended results.
5 Technical requirements
5.1 Raw material requirements
5.1.1 The base raw materials permitted in the adhesives that have direct contract with foods shall comply with the requirements specified in Annex A of this standard and relevant announcements issued by government authorities. The base raw materials permitted in the adhesives that have indirect contract with foods shall comply with the requirements specified in Annexes A and B of this standard and relevant announcements issued by government authorities.
5.1.2 The additives used for adhesives for food contact materials and articles shall comply with the requirements specified in GB 9685 and relevant announcements. In addition, additives used for adhesives that have direct contact with food is also applicable to adhesives that have indirect contact with food.
5.2 Sensory requirements
The sensory requirements of adhesive layer for direct contact with food shall meet those specified in Table 1.
