1.0.1 This code is formulated with a view to following out the guideline of "meticulous construction, quality first" of asphalt pavement, making the paved asphalt pavement be solid, flat, stable and durable, ensuring it is provided with approved skidproof performance and construction quality.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the highway and urban highway of construction and renovation as well as the asphalt pavement engineering of roads for factory and mine.
1.0.3 The asphalt pavement construction shall be provided with detailed construction design.
1.0.4 The asphalt surface course shall not be constructed in rainy weather; the construction shall be stopped when it is raining. The pavement drainage measures shall be adopted for rainy season construction.
1.0.5 The safe construction shall be ensured in the asphalt pavement construction, the builders shall be provided with approved labor protection. The asphalt mixing plant shall be provided with fire prevention equipments. The smoking or lighting fires shall be strictly forbidden in workplace where is used to prepare liquefied petroleum asphalt. The builders who use the coal asphalt shall adopt the protective measures like guarding against inspiring coal asphalt vapor or protecting their bodies from injury caused by direct contact with the coal asphalt.
1.0.6 Not only the requirements stipulated in this standard, but also those in the current relevant ones of the nation shall be complied with for asphalt pavement construction.
2 Terms, Symbols and Codes
2.1 Terms
2.1.1 Petroleum asphalt
It is obtained from petroleum which is processed by the technologies of distilling, oxygen blast and proportion; the main component of it is the semisolid viscous material of hydrocarbon which is soluble in carbon bisulfide.
2.1.2 Road petroleum asphalt
It is the asphalt binder which meets the applied technical standard of the asphalt pavement.
2.1.3 Heavy traffic road petroleum asphalt
It is the road petroleum asphalt which meets the road usage of heavy traffic capacity like highway, arterial road, urban expressway and main trunk road, and meets the technical requirements for heavy traffic road asphalt; for short as “heavy traffic asphalt”.
2.1.4 Coal asphalt
It is the asphalt made of the coal-carbonization-obtained coal tar through distilling process.
2.1.5 Mixed asphalt
It is the asphalt which is obtained from the petroleum asphalt of different grades to a scale, or from the mixture of the coal asphalt and petroleum asphalt.
2.1.6 Emulsified asphalt
Under the action of emulsifying agent and stabilizing agent, the petroleum asphalt or coal asphalt and water are processed by emulsification and formed the uniform asphalt products; which are called asphalt emulsion too. According to the methods of application, the emulsified asphalt is divided into spraying type (expressed in P) and mixing type (expressed in B).
2.1.7 Cationic emulsified asphalt
It is the emulsified asphalt which is made from the cationic emulsifier and provided with positive charge (expressed in C).
2.1.8 Anionic emulsified asphalt
It is the emulsified asphalt which is made from the anionic emulsifier and provided with negative charge (expressed in A).
2.1.9 Liquefied petroleum asphalt
It is the asphalt product made from the petroleum asphalt which is diluted by the solvents like gasoline, coal oil, diesel oil.
2.1.10 Modified asphalt
It is the asphalt binder which is made by the method of changing the performance of asphalt or asphalt mixtures by adding the external addition agents (modifying agents) like rubber, resin, heavy polymer, levigated rubber powder or other padding, or adopting the measures of processing mild oxidation on asphalt.
