1.0.1 This code is formulated with a view to preventing and reducing the damage caused by lightning on building electronic information system and protecting the safety of life and property.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the design, construction, acceptance as well as maintenance and management of newly-built, expanded and renovated building electronic information system.
This code is not applicable to the protection against lightning of electronic information system at inflammable and explosive environments and occupancies.
1.0.3 In the design of building electronic information system, external and internal lightning protection measures shall be coordinated according to the characteristics of building electronic information system; an overall planning shall be made according to the whole engineering requirements to achieve safety and reliability, advanced technology as well as economy and rationality.
1.0.4 The protection against lightning of electronic information system must adhere to the principle of prevention and safety first. If necessary, the on-site lightning electromagnetic environment shall be evaluated before design.
1.0.5 Both external (protection against direct lightning stroke) and internal (protection against lightning electromagnetic impulse(LEMP)) lightning protection measures shall be taken for the synthetical protection of electronic information system (Figure 1.0.6).
1.0.6 Corresponding protective measures shall be taken for the protection against lightning of electronic information system according to environmental factors, lightning activity law, the immunity of lightning protection zone (LPZ) and protection against lightning system (where equipment is located) against lightning electromagnetic impulse(LEMP), extent of damage in lightning stroke accidents as well as significance of system equipment.
1.0.7 The protection against lightning of building electronic information system shall not only comply with the requirements stipulated in this code, but also shall meet those in the relevant current ones of the nation.
