1 General Provisions
1.0.1 This code is formulated with a view to preventing fire in conventional island in nuclear power plants, reducing fire hazards as well as guaranteeing personal safety, property safety and safety of nuclear power plants.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to fire protection design for conventional island in pressurized water reactor plant with unit capacity of steam turbine generator up to and including mega-kilowatt class.
1.0.3 Design of fire protection for conventional island shall implement the national relevant guidelines and policies, to give overall consideration, to achieve safety, reliability and advanced technology, and to be economic and applicable.
1.0.4 Design of fire protection for conventional island in nuclear power plants shall not only meet the requirements of this code but also comply with those in the current relevant ones of the nation.
2 Terms
2.0.1 Conventional island
A general term of steam turbine generators and their supporting facilities and buildings (structures)
2.0.2 Turbine building
Building complex composed of turbine house, deaerator bay, condensate polishing room and lubricating oil transfer room
2.0.3 Main switchgear station
High-voltage electrical installations and buildings (structures) for conveying electrical energy to the power grid and providing normal-start power supply to the units
2.0.4 Auxiliary switchgear station
High-voltage electrical installations and buildings (structures) for providing normal standby and maintenance power supply to the auxiliary power system
2.0.5 Switchgear control building
Building that controls the main electrical equipment in main switchgear station and auxiliary switchgear station
2.0.6 Auxiliary boiler house
Building complex, mainly auxiliary boiler room, for providing auxiliary steam to startup or shutdown of steam turbine generators
3 Classification of Fire Hazards and Fire Resistance Class of Buildings (Structures)
3.0.1 Classification of fire hazards and fire resistance class of buildings (structures) shall not be lower than those specified in Table 3.0.1.
