1.0.1 The standard is formulated with a view to making project construction in expanding soil area to be of state-of-the-art technology, economic feasibility, and guaranteeing safety and normal use of buildings.
1.0.2 This standard is applicable to investigation, design, construction and maintenance administration of industrial and civil buildings in expanding soil area.
1.0.3 Expanding soil is referred to clay soil which clay components are hydrophilic minerals, and has two deformation characteristics - water absorption expansion and water loss shrinkage simultaneously.
1.0.4 The principles "treatment in accordance with local conditions" and the control measures must be adopted for project construction in expanding soil area, according to the characteristic of expanding soil and engineering requirements, in comprehensive consideration of climate feature and torography & terrain.
1.0.5 The project construction in expanding soil area shall meet the requirements of the related current national standards and codes, besides this standard.
