1 Scope
This standard specifies the determination of the compressive strength at room temperature of sintered metal friction materials.
It is applicable to the determination of the compressive strength at room temperature and the relative compressibility of sintered metal friction materials.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. At the time of publication, all editions cited are valid. All standards are subject to revision, and all parties using this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the latest editions of the following standards.
GB/T 6525-1986 Sintered metal materials - Determination of compression strength at room temperature
3 Test principle
The compressive strength is the stress obtained by dividing the maximum load of the cylindrical specimen under the action of axial compressive force until failure by the cross-sectional area of the original specimen.
4 Test apparatus
4.1 Tester
Any type of tester with a relative error of 1% which can meet the static loading conditions, and can be used for compression test.
4.2 Subplate
It is recommended to adopt adjustable plate (for example, adjustable ball-seat subplate device, Figure 1 of GB/T 6525) as the subplate supporting both ends of the specimen. The diameter of the subplate is at least 3 times the diameter of the specimen, and its thickness is 1/3 ~ 1/2 of the diameter of the subplate. The parallelism tolerance on the surface of the subplate shall not exceed 0.01mm.
