GB/T 12005.6-1989 Determination for hydrolysis degree of partly hydrolysis polyacrylamide
1 Subject content and application scope
This standard specifies the method for determining hydrolysis degree of partly hydrolysis polyacrylamide using methyl orange-indigo carmine as an indicator.
This standard is applicable to the determination for hydrolysis degree of powdery or gelatinous hydrolysis polyacrylamide prepared by different polymerization methods.
2 Normative references
GB 601 Preparations of standard volumetric solutions
GB 12005.2 Determination for solid content of polyacrylamide
3 Principle
Partly hydrolysis polyacrylamide is the salt of strong alkali and weak acid, which can react with hydrochloric acid to form a macromolecular weak acid, with the pH value changing from weakly alkaline to weakly acidic.
This standard is titrated with hydrochloric acid standard solution, and methyl orange-indigo carmine is selected as the indicator. The hydrolysis degree of the specimen is calculated using the volume of hydrochloric acid standard solution consumed.
4 Reagents and solutions
The analytical grade reagents and distilled water shall be used in this method.
4.1 Hydrochloric acid standard solution: c(HCl) = 0.1 mol/L solution according to GB 601.
4.2 Methyl orange solution: 0.1% solution using distilled water, stored in a brown drop bottle, with the validity period of 15d.
4.3 Indigo carmine solution: 0.25% solution using distilled water, stored in a brown drop bottle, with the validity period of 15d.
