本标准规定了工业用苯乙烯中的对-特丁基邻苯二酚(TBC)含量的测定方法。本标准适用于工业用苯乙烯中ＴＢＣ含量的测定，其适用范围为0~100mg/kg。凡在苯乙烯中含有能与氢氧化钠醇溶液生成颜色的其它化合物，对测定均有干扰。但如果已知该化合物及其在样品中的浓度，也许可在配制标准溶液时加入这一化合物而予以补偿。注意：苯乙烯单体为易燃物。在与过氧化物、无机酸和三氯化铝等接触时会发生放热聚合反应。高浓度的液态苯乙烯及其蒸气对眼睛和呼吸系统都有刺激性。
