Steel - Determination of area content of graphite-micrographic method using diagrams
1 Subject content and application scope
This standard specifies the selection and preparation of determination specimen, determination methods and test reports for graphite carbon in steel by micrographic method.
This standard applies to determination of the graphite carbon in steel by micrographic method.
2 Normative references
GB/T 13298 Inspection methods of microstructure for metals
3 Selection and preparation of specimen
3.1 Sampling methods
The specimens shall be cut from steel in delivery state. If there are special requirements, heat treatment may be carried out according to the corresponding product technical conditions or agreements.
The inspection surface of the specimen is a cross-section perpendicular to the steel axis.
3.1.1 Sampling methods for round and square steel
For steels with a diameter or side length of less than or equal to 20mm, the inspection surface is the entire cross section; for steels with a diameter or side length larger than 20mm, the inspection surface is the cross-section through the steel axis, with a size of 20mm×10mm.
