1. Scope
This Standard specifies a trapezoidal method for determination of tear force of geosynthetics.
This Standard is applicable to various geotextiles and geosynthetic barriers.
2. Normative References
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated reference, subsequent amendments to (excluding correction to), or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However, the parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies.

3. Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Geosynthetic
A generic term for a kind of flaky, stripy or three-dimensional products, consisting of a kind of synthetic or natural polymer as a minimum, exposed to soil and (or) other materials in the geotechnical engineering and civil engineering.
3.2
Geotextile
Woven, knitted or nonwoven planar and permeable textile materials, consisting of (natural or synthetic) polymer, exposed to soil and (or) other materials in the geotechnical engineering and civil engineering.
3.3
