1.1 This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules of the installed X or gamma radiation dose rate meters, warning assemblies and monitors for use in radiation protection.
1.2 This standard is applicable to the installed X, gamma radiation dose rate meters, warning assemblies and monitors for use in area monitoring in the field. This type of meter measures kerma rate, ambient dose equivalent rate, absorbed dose rate or exposure rate. This standard presents the required value of the same radiation characteristic for these radiation quantities; however the conventional true value must be adopted with the corresponding radiation quantity. The energy range of X and γ is 50 keV~7MeV. For the meters which fail to attain such energy range, at least 80keV~1.5MeV shall be attained.
1.3 This standard is also applicable to designed installed X and γ radiation dose rate meters, warning assemblies and monitors for special application (such as those with very high radiation dose rate). Such assemblies may be provided with the necessary amendment and addition for some requirements according to the principle as specified in this standard.
1.4 This standard is not applicable to the monitoring instrument of reactor and monitoring instrument of critical accident.
