Fibre-reinforced plastic composites — Determination of the punch-type shear strength
1 Scope
This standard specifies the specimen, test equipment, test conditions, test procedures and result calculation for determination of punch-type shear strength.
This standard applies to the determination of the shear strength of broken lines of fibre-reinforced plastic plates and the shear strength of chopped fibre-reinforced plastics.
Note: The shear strength of broken lines refers to the shear strength perpendicular to the ply direction.
2 Normative references
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this national standard. For dated reference, subsequent amendments to (excluding any corrigendum), or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However, parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the latest editions of the standards indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies.
GB 1446-2005 Fiber-reinforced plastics composites — The generals for determination of properties
3 Principle
The specimen is placed in a special fixture and loaded at a constant speed to make it shear along the thickness direction, and the shear strength is measured.
4 Test specimens
4.1 The shape and dimensions of the fibre-reinforced plastic plate specimen are shown in Figure 1. The specimens were prepared by mechanical processing. In case of the thickness of the sheet is more than 6 mm, one side is machined to (6 ± 0.1) mm.
