本标准规定了变形耐蚀合金和铸造耐蚀合金牌号的分类、表示方法、命名、化学成分等。
本标准规定的牌号及其化学成分适用于制、修订耐蚀合金产品标准时采用。
本标准与GB/T 15007-1994相比主要变化如下：
——合金编号数字由三位变为四位（1994年版2.1.1；本版3.1.1）；
——增加了2个合金系列号（1994年版2.1.3；本版3.1.3）；
——增加了NS1501、NS1601、NS1602、NS3203、NS3204、NS3308、NS3309、NS3310、NS3311、NS3402、NS3403、NS3404、NS3405 13个变形耐蚀合金牌号；
——增加了ZNS1301、ZNS3101、ZNS3201、ZNS3202、ZNS3301、ZNS3302、ZNS3303、ZNS3304、ZNS3305、ZNS4301 10个铸造耐蚀合金牌号。
