Safety glazing materials in building Part 3: Laminated glass
1 Scope
This document specifies the classification, requirements, inspection rules, packaging, transportation and storage,and describes the test methods of laminated glass used in building.
This document applies to the design, production and delivery of laminated glass used in building. For laminated glass used outside buildings (such as industrial equipment and furniture, etc.), if there is no corresponding product standard, this document shall be used for reference according to the product characteristics.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
interlayer
material interposed between two layers of glass and/or plastic for separation and bonding, thereby providing laminated glass with properties such as impact resistance, solar control, and sound insulation
3.2
ionoplast interlayer
intermediate layer material primarily composed of ethylene-methacrylic acid copolymer, containing trace amounts of metal salts, and capable of forming a robust bond with glass
3.3
PVB interlayer
intermediate layer material primarily composed of polyvinyl butyral
3.4
EVA interlayer
intermediate layer material primarily composed of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer
Note: Including low-crosslinked EVA and high-crosslinked reinforced EVA (PVE).
3.5
laminated glass
general term for a composite material consisting of glass and/or plastics, which are separated by intermediate layers and bonded together through processing
Note: The most common and widely used form is a glass element where glass panes are separated and bonded together by an interlayer through processing.
3.6
symmetrical laminated glass
laminated glass in which the materials such as glass and/or plastic, interlayers, from the two outer surfaces inward, are identical in type, thickness, and/or general features
3.7
asymmetrical laminated glass
laminated glass in which the materials such as glass and/or plastic, interlayers, from the two outer surfaces inward, are identical not in type, thickness, and/or general features
3.8
edge area
area within 15 mm from the edges when the area is ≤ 5 m², or within 20 mm from the edges when the area is > 5 m²
3.9
vision area
area excluding the edge area
3.10
vent
sharp linear crack extending from the glass edge to the middle
3.11
crease
optical deformation visible after lamination caused by interlayer folding
3.12
streak
visible optical deformation after lamination due to inhomogeneity defect in the manufacturing process of the interlayer materials
3.13
delamination
separation caused by the localized loss of adhesive force between the glass or plastic and the interlayer
3.14
spot defect
opaque spots, bubbles and spot foreign matters
3.15
linear defect
linear foreign matters, scratches or abrasions
3.16
bubble
visible gas inclusions formed within the interlayers or on the interfaces between the interlayers and the glass
3.17
cloudiness
hazing phenomenon in which the scattering of incident light by the specimen reduces its direct light transmittance, resulting in a cloudy or overall milky appearance
3.18
discoloration
obvious change of colors of laminated glass due to oxidation of the interlayer
Note: Discoloration of transparent interlayers is typically considered as yellowing.
4 Classification
4.1 By shape
a) Flat laminated glass;
b) Curved laminated glass.
4.2 By shot-bag impact performance
a) II-1 laminated glass;
b) II-2 laminated glass;
c) III laminated glass.
Note: for the recommendations for the use of safety glass in buildings, see Annex A
4.3 By resistance to heat
a) L laminated glass;
b) S laminated glass;
5 Requirements
5.1 General
5.1.1 Laminated glass is composed of a combination of glass, plastics, and interlayer materials (such as ionic interlayers, PVB interlayers, EVA interlayers, etc.). All materials used shall comply with the corresponding national standards, professional standards, relevant technical specifications, or requirements stipulated in the ordering documents.
5.1.2 Laminated glass with special functions shall comply with the provisions of clauses 5.2 ~ 5.11, and may also comply with the relevant provisions in 5.12 ~ 5.14 according to its functions.
5.2 Dimension and deviation
5.2.1 Edge length deviation
The edge length deviation of laminated glass shall meet those specified in Table 1.
