1 Scope
This document describes the sieve analysis test methods for pesticides.
Wet sieving test: applicable to the determination of passing rate for dispersible tablets, soluble tablets, wettable powders, emulifiable powders, granule suspensions, water-dispersible granules, dispersible liquid concentrates, oil-based suspensions, microcapsule suspensions, microcapsule suspension-emulsions, microcapsule suspension-suspensions, microcapsule suspension-emulsion-suspensions, suspension concentrates, seed treatment wettable powders, and seed treatment suspension concentrates.
Dry sieving test: applicable to the determination of passing rate for powder formulations and seed treatment dry powders.
Particle size range: applicable to the determination of particle size in granular formulations.

4 Test Methods
4.1 Wet Sieving Test
4.1.1 Principle
Weigh the sample, wet it in a beaker, and stir. Transfer the wetted sample to a test sieve, rinse with a gentle stream of tap water, and collect the residue on a watch glass. Dry the residue, weigh it, and calculate the passing rate.
4.1.2 Apparatus and Materials
Test sieve: 20 cm diameter, 75 μm aperture.
Magnetic stirrer.
Magnetic stirrer bar: ~2 cm length.
Drying oven: temperature control ±2°C.
Balance: 0.01 g and 0.0001 g precision.
Beaker: 250 mL.
Rubber hose: 10 mm inner diameter.
Watch glass: 12 cm diameter.

4.1.3 Procedure
4.1.3.1 General Conditions
Conduct all operations at ambient temperature (25°C ±5°C).
4.1.3.2 Sample Wetting
Weigh 10 g (0.01 g precision) of sample into a 250 mL beaker. Add 100 mL tap water, let stand for 60 s, then stir for 5 min using a magnetic stirrer.
4.1.3.3 Wet Sieving
Transfer the wetted sample to the test sieve and rinse with tap water. Use a gentle stream of tap water (1–5 L/min, 2–5 cm above the sieve surface) to rinse the residue for up to 10 min until no further residue is visible. If no residue remains, record a passing rate of 100%. If residue is present, transfer it to a pre-weighed watch glass using deionized water. Dry at 70°C (or an appropriate temperature based on product properties) until constant weight.
Cool in a desiccator, weigh (0.0001 g precision), and calculate the passing rate using formula (1):

4.1.3.4 Permissible Difference

4.2.1 Principle
Weigh a sample, sieve it through a test sieve until the residue mass stabilizes, and calculate the passing rate based on the mass passing through.
4.2.2 Apparatus and Materials

Vibratory sieve shaker (for shaker method): tray diameter ≥20 cm, amplitude 4 mm, frequency 300 rpm.
