1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements, judgment rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of down and feather, describes the corresponding test methods, provides the product classification to facilitate technical regulations, and defines the relevant terms.
This document is applicable to the production, inspection, and sales of down and feather. Fillings for down and feather products shall be implemented with reference to this document, except where otherwise explicitly specified in relevant product standards.
This document is not applicable to products made of down and feather mixed with other fibers.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
down and feather
general term for down, feathers growing on the body surface of waterfowl, as well as related components or compositions such as down fibers and feather fibers derived therefrom
Note 1: Those with a down content (3.8) of 50% or more are referred to as "down", and those with a down content (3.8) of less than 50% are referred to as "feather".
Note 2: Common down and feather include goose down, goose feather, duck down, and duck feather.
3.2
pre-washed down and feather
down and feather (3.1) shed from waterfowl, which have only undergone preliminary washing and drying processing, and cannot be directly used for filling products
Note 1: Pre-washed down and feather may contain feather quills and/or part of residues (3.14).
Note 2: Feather quills refer to the wing feathers and tail feathers of waterfowl.

fine washed down and feather
down and feather (3.1) that has been processed by pre-sorting, fine washing, high-temperature drying, fine sorting, and other processes, and is used for filling products
