本标准规定了铝及铝合金中铬含量的测定方法。本方法适用于铝及铝合金中铬含量的测定。测定范围：（方法1）0.0001%--0.60%。（方法2）0.010%--0.60%。本部分代替ＧＢ／Ｔ６９８７．１８—２００１《铝及铝合金化学分析方法　火焰原子吸收光谱法测定铬量》和ＧＢ／Ｔ６９８７．３０—２００１《铝及铝合金化学分析方法　萃取分离二苯基碳酰二肼分光光度法测定铬量》。
与ＧＢ／Ｔ６９８７．１８—２００１相比主要变化如下：
———将６９８７．３０—２００１内容作为本部分的“方法一：萃取分离二苯基碳酰二肼分光光度法”，原标准内容作为“方法二：火焰原子吸收光谱法”；
———将测定范围由０．００３０％～０．６０％修订为０．０１０％～０．６０％；
