1 Scope This document specifies the general rules for all electrical devices installed in the main, auxiliary, control and indicating circuits of rolling stock. This document applies to all electrical devices on rolling stock. Electrical components are primarily switchgear and control equipment, but also include relays, electro-pneumatic (magnetic) valve resistors, fuses, etc., regardless of the nature of their control. Currently, electronic components or electronic assemblies are also commonly included in electrical devices. This document does not apply to electronic equipment, but the fact that an electrical device contains electronic components or electronic assemblies does not exclude it from the scope of this document. The electronic components or electronic assemblies comply with the appropriate standards. In consultation with the manufacturer, certain rules of this document may be applied to electrical components on other rolling stock (e.g. industrial and mining locomotives, trolleybuses, etc.). This document gives: Device characteristics; the conditions of use to which the device should be subjected; The test items and test methods to be used to verify that the device complies with the characteristics under the conditions of use; The information to be marked or given on the device. This document does not apply to industrial electrical components, which are subject to their own product standards. In order to ensure that these devices work properly on rolling stock, this document only specifies the special requirements for these devices under rail traffic conditions. For this purpose, additional requirements to be fulfilled by these devices will be described in specific documents, such as: Adaptation (e.g. control voltage, environmental conditions, etc.); Installation and use without the need to withstand specific rolling stock conditions; additional tests to verify that the devices meet the conditions of use of the rolling stock. In the event of a discrepancy between the requirements of this document and the relevant product standards for rolling stock, the requirements of the product standards shall prevail. 2 Normative references The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document by means of normative references in the text. Among them, note the period of reference documents, only the date corresponding to the version applicable to this document; not note 8 period of reference documents, its latest version (including all the revision of the list) applicable to this document.
