This standard specifies terms and definitions, abbreviation, requirements and test method, test rules, marking, and packaging, transportation and storage, and safety of methanol gasoline (M85) for motor vehicles mixed by 84%~86% (volume fraction) methanol, 16%~14% (volume fraction) gasoline (M85) for motor vehicles and additive to improve service performance.
The product that this standard applies is applicable to be used as fuel for methanol gasoline (M85) spark-ignition engine.
The molecular formula of methanol is CH3OH.

3 Terms, definitions and abbreviations
The following terms, definitions and abbreviations are applicable to this standard.
3.1 Aliphatic ether
Oxygen-containing, ashless, organic compound in which the oxygen atom is interposed between two carbon atoms (organic groups), has the general formula CnH2n+2O with n being 5 to 8. The aliphatic ether in this standard refers to only saturated compound.
3.2 Methanol gasoline (M85) for motor vehicles
Products mixed by methanol and gasoline for motor vehicles
Note: the addition of methanol is 84% ~ 86% (volume fraction).
3.3 Higher alcohols
Aliphatic alcohols of the general formula CnH2n+1OH with carbon number being 2 to 8
3.4 Hydrocarbon
Those components in an ethanol-hydrocarbon blend containing only hydrogen and carbon.
3.5 Low-volume connector
Special union for connecting two lengths of tubing 1.6 mm inside diameter and smaller.

3.6 Split ratio

The addition of Sudan Red IV should be 8 mg/kg ~ 10 mg/kg, and the index number hereof is C.I.Solvent Red 24 (26105). Except this, the dye of other kinds must not be added artificially.

In the case of disagreement, the test result gained in accordance with Annex B shall prevail.
c In the case of disagreement, the test result gained in accordance with GB/T 8020 shall prevail. When adopting the test method specified in ASTM D5059, methanol (analytical reagent) is adopted as solvent to prepare reference solution to prevent error due to large difference of carbon hydrogen ratio.
