3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
epoxy coating powder
Thermosetting fusion-bonded powder coating with epoxy resin as the main film-forming material.
3.2
epoxy coating
Film formed by uniformly applying epoxy powder onto steel wire surface by electrostatic or other methods, followed by fusion, bonding and curing.
3.3
epoxy-coated steel wire; ECW
Steel wire uniformly covered with a dense protective epoxy coating on its surface.
3.4
individual epoxy-coated wire prestressing steel strand; IECS
Seven-wire prestressing steel strand where each individual wire is uniformly covered with a dense protective epoxy coating.
3.5
patching material
Material compatible with and comparable in performance to the epoxy coating, used to repair damaged and cut coating areas of epoxy-coated steel wires and steel strands.
4 Product Marking
4.1 Marking of Epoxy-coated Steel Wires
Product marking delivered in accordance with this document shall include: designation code ECW for epoxy-coated steel wire, nominal diameter, strength grade and this document number.
Example 1: Epoxy-coated steel wire with nominal diameter of 5 mm and strength grade of 1670 MPa, marked as:
ECW 5-1670-GB/T 25823-2026
Example 2: Epoxy-coated steel wire with nominal diameter of 7 mm and strength grade of 1770 MPa, marked as:
ECW 7-1770-GB/T 25823-2026
4.2 Marking of Epoxy-coated Steel Strands
Product marking delivered in accordance with this document shall include: designation code IECS for epoxy-coated steel strand, nominal diameter, strength grade and this document number.

5 Ordering Information
Contracts placed under this document shall contain the following main information:
a) This document number;
b) Product name;
c) Nominal diameter;
d) Strength grade;
e) Mass/Length;
f) Application;
g) Packaging requirements;
h) Other requirements specified by the purchaser.
6 Manufacturing Method
6.1 Surface Treatment
Prior to epoxy powder coating, the surface of steel wires or steel strands shall be cleaned by methods that do not impair their performance. No visually observable rust shall remain after cleaning.
6.2 Coating Application
6.2.1 Epoxy powder coating shall be applied within 10 min after cleaning of steel wires or steel strands, and no visually observable oxidation shall exist on the surface.
6.2.2 For cleaned steel wires, epoxy powder is electrostatically applied uniformly to the wire surface, then fused by heating, cooled and cured to produce epoxy-coated steel wires.
6.2.3 Cleaned steel strands shall be fully opened; epoxy powder is electrostatically applied uniformly to each wire surface. The strands are then heated for fusion, cooled for curing, re-twisted and restored to form epoxy-coated steel strands.
7 Materials
7.1 Steel Wires and Steel Strands
7.1.1 Steel wires for epoxy coating shall comply with GB/T 5223 or other relevant standards, and their surfaces shall be free from contaminants such as oil, grease and paint. Special requirements, if any, shall be specified in the contract.
7.1.2 Steel strands for epoxy coating shall comply with GB/T 5224 or other relevant standards, and their surfaces shall be free from contaminants such as oil, grease and paint. Special requirements, if any, shall be specified in the contract.
