3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
quaternary ammonium disinfectant
disinfectants with quaternary ammonium as main chemical component, which herein refer to the disinfectant with quaternary ammonium chloride and quaternary ammonium bromide as main active ingredients for sterilization, and include the disinfectants containing single quaternary ammonium component, and those containing various quaternary ammonium compounds and those compounded with 65%~75% alcohol or isopropanol
3.2
quaternary ammonium chloride
alquat consisting of C8~C18 aliphatic chain (single or double chains) and methyl (or benzyl, ethylbenzyl) and benzethonium chloride consisting of sinyl, dimethyl and benzyl
3.3
quaternary ammonium bromide
quaternary ammonium bromide consisting of C8~C18 aliphatic chain (single or double chains) and methyl (or benzyl, ethylbenzyl)
3.4
clean object
disinfected object that has been cleaned or has only a small amount of organic contamination
3.5
dirty object
disinfected object that has not been cleaned or has much organic contamination
3.6
clean condition
a basis for determining the dosage of disinfectant applied on the uncleaned dirty objects through quantitative microorganism germicidal test by taking 0.3% bovine serum albumin (BSA) as an organic interference condition
3.7
dirty condition
a basis for determining the dosage of disinfectant applied on the not cleaned dirty objects through quantitative microorganism germicidal test by taking 3% bovine serum albumin (BSA) as an organic interference condition
4 Raw material requirements
4.1 Content and pH value of quaternary ammonium
The content and pH value of quaternary ammonium shall be in accordance with national regulations.
4.2 Content of free amine
The content of free amine shall be ≤2.0%.
4.3 Quality control requirements for other raw materials in the formula
Clear quality control criteria shall be set and comply with corresponding standards and relevant regulations.
4.4 Production water
Production water shall be deionized water.
4.5 Equipment and vessels for food processing
The content of heavy metals (by Pb) and arsenic (by As) shall be strictly controlled for equipment and vessels for food processing so as to make them comply with the corresponding standards and requirements.
4.6 Compatibility of raw materials
4.6.1 Quaternary ammoniums may be compatible with alcohol and isopropanol.
4.6.2 Quaternary ammoniums should not be compatible with soap or anionic surfactants.
4.6.3 Quaternary ammoniums should not be compatible with citrate, iodide, nitrate, permanganate, salicylate, silver salt, tartrate and alkaloids, aluminum, sodium fluorescein, hydrogen peroxide, porcellanite, hydrous lanolin, etc.
