1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements for water cooling equipment for static var compensators in AC transmission and distribution systems.
This standard is applicable to water cooling equipment for static var compensators in AC transmission and distribution systems (hereinafter referred to as “cooling equipment”).

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 3859.1 and the following apply.
3.1
cooling medium
liquid (e.g., water) or gas (e.g., air) that removes heat from a cooling device or heat exchanger
3.2
heat transfer agent
liquid (e.g., water) or gas (e.g., air) that transfers heat from a heat source to a heat exchanger in cooling equipment. Such heat will be removed from the heat exchanger by the cooling medium
3.3
indirect cooling
cooling method by which the heat from is transferred from a component to be cooled to a cooling medium by means of heat transfer agent
3.4
forced circulation
forced cooling
method by which a cooling medium or heat transfer agent is circulated using a compressor, fan, or pump
3.5
de-ionized water
water after removal of ionic impurities
3.6
inside coolant
water used as heat transfer agent. Inside coolant may be de-ionized water or a mixture of de-ionized water and a certain proportion of organic antifreeze
