GB/T 30299-2013 General technical specifications for energy recovery devices in reverse osmosis system
1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification and model, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, as well as the requirements for marking, packaging, transport and storage of energy recovery devices in reverse osmosis system.
This standard is applicable to work exchange energy recovery devices for desalination systems for, such as, seawater desalination and brackish water desalination using reverse osmosis method.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 20103-2006 and HY/T 108-2008 and the following apply.
3.1
reverse osmosis; RO
a process in which, under pressure higher than the osmotic pressure difference, the solvent (such as water) passes through the semipermeable membrane to the low-pressure side of the membrane, while other components in the solution (such as salts) are retained on the high-pressure side of the membrane and discharged along with the concentrated solution, thus achieving effective separation
[GB/T 20103-2006, Definition 4.2.2]
3.2
energy recovery device
a device designed to recover the hydraulic energy of brine from the reverse osmosis desalination system and convert it into the hydraulic energy of the membrane feed water
[HY/T 108-2008, Definition 3.1]
3.3
work exchange energy recovery device
a device that completes one-step energy conversion, transferring the hydraulic energy of brine to raw water through a piston or direct contact, so as to achieve the purpose of recovering the hydraulic energy of brine
