Food processing equipment - Motor-operated equipment - Planetary mixers
1 Scope
This document specifies the technical requirements and inspection rules for planetary mixers fitted with a bowl-shaped drum (hereinafter referred to as the “drum”), defines the relevant terms and definitions, describes the classification of structure, verification of measures and relevant hazards in different zones, and gives information for their use.
This document applies to planetary mixers with a drum capacity of ≥5L and ≤200L for processing various food materials in food shops. Food materials include cocoa powder, flour, sugar, oils and fats, meat stuffings, eggs and other materials. This document may be used as a reference for mixers in food industry, pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry, printing industry and other industrial places.
This document does not apply to:
——Auxiliary accessories of planetary mixers;
——Continuous feeders;
——Vertical dough mixers (GB/T 22748);
——Whipping mixers without parallel shafts;
——Equipment in the experimental stage of development by the manufacturer;
——Household apparatuses.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 15706-2012 and the following apply.
3.1
tool
detachable unit with stirring, mixing and kneading functions and capable of doing planetary movement
Note 1: Tools come in different shapes.
Note 2: In this document, the scraper is considered to be a tool.
3.2
planetary movement
rotational movement of the tool around two parallel shafts, i.e. the shaft passing through the tool body and the shaft inside the drum
3.3
working position
position when both the drum and the tool are stable, with the drum locked in the upper position and the tool locked to the shaft and closest to the bottom of the drum
4 General
4.1 Structure of planetary mixer
The structure of the planetary mixer is shown in Figure 1.
——Transmission mechanism, complete with that of the tool;
——Control device;
——Drum, for processing materials;
——Tool, interchangeable, for processing materials, with constant or variable speed;
——Auxiliary driving devices, such as knife holder and vegetable holder;
——Handle, which enables the drum to move vertically, or facilitates the disassembly of the mixing head of the tool;
——Trolley, a device for maneuvering the drum;
——Protective cover;
——Drum heating device (optional, not included in Figure 1);
——Drum cooling device (optional, not included in Figure 1);
——Drum gravity discharge device (optional, not included in Figure 1).
