Lifting appliances - Code of inspection and maintenance - Part 1: General
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 31052 specifies the basic requirements for inspection and maintenance of lifting appliances in use.
This part is applicable to mobile cranes, tower cranes, jib cranes, bridge and gantry cranes, cable cranes, derrick cranes, railway cranes, lifters, series lifting equipment, mechanical parking systems and floating cranes, as shown in Annex A.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
inspection
a series of work conducted to determine whether the state of lifting appliances is normal, including daily inspection, periodic inspection and exceptional inspection
3.2
daily inspection
inspection before each work shift starts working
3.3
periodic inspection
inspection of lifting appliances in use according to the specified period
3.4
exceptional inspection
inspection in case of change in lifting appliance itself or external conditions, and before re-start after being stopped
3.5
maintenance
a series of work conducted to keep or restore the lifting appliance to the state capable of performing its specified functions, which is classified into planned maintenance and unplanned maintenance, including preventing maintenance and repair
3.6
preventing maintenance
necessary work conducted as planned to ensure normal and safe operation of the lifting appliances, including cleaning, lubrication, tightening, adjustment and corrosion prevention
