本标准规定了通风机的基本型式、尺寸参数及性能曲线。本标准适用于一般用途的离心式和轴流式通风机。对其他用途的通风机（混流通风机）亦可参照使用，技术上或其他方面的特殊要求可在产品标准或合同协议中规定。本标准不适用于横流通风机或家用或类似用途的风机设备。
