GB/T 34000-2016 China shipbuilding quality standard
1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements on quality control throughout the shipbuilding production progress,tests and inspections to be done for delivery acceptance,and the construction accuracy.
This standard is applicable to the construction,testing and delivery inspection for the steel sea-going motor ships of 500 gross tonnage and above.It may also be used as a reference for the construction, testing and delivery inspection for other ships.

3 Quality control throughout production
3.1 HullConstruction
3.1.1 Steel Material handling and processing
3.1.1.1 Steel material handling
3.1.1.1.1 Upon arrival in the yard,all steel materials shall be checked against quality certificates and marks to ensure their consistency.Visual inspection shall be done to confirm their quality.
3.1.1.1.2 Proper transfer of class(TOC)procedure shall be done for the steel materials that need TOC.
3.1.1.1.3 All steel materials shall have full traceability.
3.1.1.1.4 All steel materials shall be dispatched against the steel material allocation sheet according to the production plan.
3.1.1.1.5 Visual inspection shall be carried out on the steel materials before processing.
3.1.1.1.6 Key points of quality control for steel material handling
a) Size,brand,heat number and batch number;
b) Tolerance in thickness for plates and profiles;
c)Surface condition;
d)Defects in large forgings and castings
3.1.1.2 Steel material processing
3.1.1.2.1 Line-Marking and cutting
3.1.1.2.1.1 Pre-treatment is recommended for the plates-and profiles before processing,which in- cludes flattening,straightening and necessary derusting(and removal of surface pitting).
3.1.1.2.1.2 Material grade,heat number,batch number and thickness shall be noted down for all primary members.
3.1.1.2.1.3 Key points of quality control for marking:
a)Size deviation;
b)Angle deviation;
c)Markings such as processing symbols,codes and marks;
d)Transfer of markings of material quality,heat number and batch number on to the cut-off mate- rials.
3.1.1.2.1.4 Key points of quality control for cutting:
a) Cutting accuracyi
b)Cutting form and dimension accuracy;
c)Cutting angle and direction of groove;
d)Cutting accuracy of NC cutting machines.
3.1.1.2.2 Forming
3.1.1.2.2.1 Forming of steel plates and profiles is better to be performed by the way of hot or cold
bending,and to be conducted in accordance with the specific requirements.
3.1.1.2.2.2 key points of quality-control for forming of steel plates and profiles:
a)Heating temperature; b)Radius of cold bending; c)Accuracy of forming; d)Quality of appearance.
3.1.1.2.3 Grinding of members
3.1.1.2.3.1 Grinding of the free edges of hullmembers is generally divided into normal locations and special painting locations.The requirements of grinding for special painting locations are higher than that for normal locations.
3.1.1.2.3.2 Key points of quality control for grinding of members:
a)Locations such as sheer strake,corner of hatch opening and liquid tank;
b)Free edges at normal location.
3.1.2 Assembling
3.1.2.1 Parts assembling
3.1.2.1.1 Fixing and assembling of parts for unitshall be done to the required accuracy that can meet the accuracy requirements of unit and block assembling.
3.1.2.1.2 Pre-outfitting of parts shall be done in accordance with design drawings
3.1.2.1.3 Key points of quality control for part and member assembling: a)Geometrical dimensions of parts and members;
b)Installation locations of parts;
c)Deformation of parts and members; d)Fit-up clearance of parts;
e)Accuracy of structural alignment of welded parts and members.
3.1.2.2 Unit assembling
3.1.2.2.1 Unit assembling shall be done to the required accuracy that can meet the accuracy require- ments of block assembling.
3.1.2.2.2 Key points of quality control for unit assembling: a)Accuracy of structure line-marking;
b) Accuracy of structure locating;
c)Assembling accuracy of unit structure joints,and accuracy of structural alignment of welded parts and members;
d)Accuracy of forms and dimensions of unit;
e)Verticality or declivity of web-frame structures such as floors,longitudinals and horizontal gird- ers;
f) Uniplanar accuracy of the ends; g)Accuracy of edges of unit.3.1.2.3 Block assembling
3.1.2.3.1 Block assembling ideally is better carried out on the platform,jig or on the flat panel pro-duction line.
3.1.2.3.2 Pre-outfitting of parts and members shall be done in accordance with design drawings.
3.1.2.3.3 Block assembling shall be done to the required accuracy that satisfies the requirements of grand assembling and erection.
3.1.2.3.4 Key points of quality control for block assembling:
a)Accuracy of jig manufacturing;
b)Accuracy of marking;
c)Assembling accuracy of structure joints inside the block,and accuracy of structural alignment of welded parts and members;
d)Accuracy of forms and dimensions of block; e)Accuracy of edges of block;
f)Correctness of reference lines for grand assembling and erection;
g)Levelness of face plate and location deviation of the main engine seating;
h)Installation locations of key components such as stern boss,stern tube,rudder bearing and rud- der horn,etc.
i) Visual quality of block;
j) Integrity of pre-outfitting of assembled block.
3.1.2.4 Grand assembling
3.1.2.4.1 Pre-outfitting of parts and members shall be done in accordance with design drawings.
3.1.2.4.2 Grand assembling shall be done to the required accuracy that satisfies the accuracy re- quirements of further erection.
3.1.2.4.3 Key points of quality control for grand assembling:
a)Accuracy of locating reference line for grand assembling;
b)Assembling accuracy of structure joints between the blocks,and accuracy of structural align-
ment of welded parts and members;
c)Accuracy of forms and dimensions as well as flatness of grand assembled section;
d)Correctness of the reference line for erection; e)Visual quality of mega block;f)Completeness of pre-outfitting of mega block.
3.1.2.5 Erection on shipway(or in building dock)
3.1.2.5.1 Carry out marking on the shipway (or in building dock) with corresponding symbols and marks.
3.1.2.5.2 Place the positioning mega block,and then proceed with successive sections according to the shipway(or building dock)erection schedule.
3.1.2.5.3 Carry out outfits work on shipway(or in building dock
3.1.2.5.4 During the construction process,temporay openings in the primary members and their closing-up shall be carried out in accordance h the regsiations set out in the approved technical
documents.
3.1.2.5.5 Remove temporary welding pieces.Remove lifting eye pieces and scaffold eye pieces in accordance with processing workmanship.
3.1.2.5.6 Key points of quality control for shipway(or building dock)erection:
a)Accuracy of markingon shipway (or in building dock);
b)Correctness of location of reference section;
c)Spacing between frames and longitudinals at section junctions;
d)Accuracy of structure butt and fillet joints,accuracy of structural alignment of welded parts and members;
e) Deflection of the centerline of the keel;
f) Alignment accuracy of shafting centerline;
g)Marking accuracy of load line and draft marks;

1 Scope

3 Quality control throughout production
3.1 HullConstruction
3.1.1 Steel Material handling and processing
3.1.1.1 Steel material handling

c)Accuracy of forms and dimensions as well as flatness of grand assembled section;
d)Correctness of the reference line for erection; e)Visual quality of mega block;f)Completeness of pre-outfitting of mega block.
3.1.2.5 Erection on shipway(or in building dock)
